well, no falconer this time; just the bird. This is a white gyrfalcon I photographed at the falconryfestival. In medieval times, the Gyrfalcon was considered the king's bird. Due to its rarity and the difficulties involved in obtaining it, in falconry the gyrfalcon was generally reserved for kings and nobles.

A little soft, but very good portrait of one of probably the world's most impressive falcon species. Nice reflection in the eye.
Add some contrast.

Would have liked to see the feathers a bit sharper, nice pattern there.. beautifull eyes on the guy though! Hehehe, and the bad hair gives him charachter!
